Nadrich Accident Injury Lawyers: Attorney Jeff Nadrich Supports Tax Credit to Fireproof Homes

Jeff Nadrich, the founding attorney of Nadrich Accident Injury Lawyers, supports the Facilitating Increased Resilience, Environmental Weatherization And Lowered Liability, or FIREWALL, Act.

The bill, which was introduced on April 8, 2025, by Senators Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.), would provide a federal tax credit to some homeowners who harden and retrofit their homes to protect against natural disasters such as wildfires.

“This bill will provide necessary protection for California’s homeowners against the increasing threat of wildfires,” Nadrich said. The full text of the FIREWALL Act is available through Senator Schiff’s office.

The tax credit would help families who make under $300,000 per year, and would cap at $25,000 for families making under $200,000 per year. The credit would help these families protect their homes and themselves while encouraging insurance companies to insure additional homes in areas which are vulnerable.

“This credit is important because insurance policies are becoming increasingly expensive and hard to obtain in California and other states due to the growing threat of wildfires,” Nadrich said.

The fires that devastated Southern California in January, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, were among the United States’ costliest disasters. Many victims of the fires said their insurance policies were dropped by insurers last year, compounding the devastation.

Upgrades which are eligible will include vegetation removal, storm shelters, air filtration, stormwater barriers and fire-resistant roofing and building materials.

The credit is fully refundable and will be adjusted for inflation.

The credit will be available to communities which have experienced at least one federally declared disaster in the past 10 years.

Nadrich Accident Injury Lawyers supports victims of California wildfires, helping them to recover compensation for property damage, evacuation costs, medical bills, lost wages, pain, suffering and more. The law firm has resources available for victims of California wildfires and has 17 California offices.
